From the very beginning of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of characters, and a gripping narrative including angels, fiends, and malevolent powers increasing in influence within the city.
Heads-up: Revealing details for the latest installment of this adventure follow below.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
The third episode concluded with a huge suspense moment and revealed the first table of heroes who will separate from the main group to embark on their independent quest, distinct from the remaining groups.
This warrior group includes Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis), Thimble (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
Given 13 cast members, it was clear from the outset that having everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
This explains, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Prelude, connecting the personal journeys before branching into three smaller tables: Fighters, Planners, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
Per the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for participants who are drawn to a typically action-packed battle-oriented gameplay experience where diplomatic options are rare.
Upon first impression, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander might appear unsuited, but the developments of episode 3 show why these particular heroes are best suited for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the party understands precisely where to proceed after a violent first encounter with the antagonists.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose demise kicked off the campaign’s events—used the enemy for his own means, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, striking the rogue, and taking all the enchanted items to sell off.
Casimir then settled his obligations and fled to a secure base in the northern region, above the urban center, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each member has a personal reason to exit the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, wants vengeance.
- The adventurer is familiar with the region and cautions that it is a nasty place.
- The warrior and The cleric, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to execute the target and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their reputation as prominent individuals in the powerful family could help the team enter areas they usually can’t.
- Additionally, The fighter swore a life debt to The savior for his rescue and will now accompany him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are sought by the rulers that rule Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and The cleric betrayed the influential house and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- Teor is wanted dead by the family.
This leaves them few options but to journey toward Timmony in search of the antagonist.
Future Episodes
From episode three’s post-show segment, we find out that the Soldiers table will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight players to assemble the Questers and Strategists groups.
Viewers can anticipate finding out which adventurers will be in which group in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, released on October 24.
